This year our class has been participating in the GRA, GRA stands for the global read aloud. The global read aloud is where classes all around the world read the book. We can a chapter we have be up to at the end of each week. This years book is Front Desk by Kelly Yang. It is based on her life when first moved to America from China. The book is about a 10 year old girl called Mia who came to  America for a better, but then trouble with getting jobs and work. 

For our Literacy task this week we had to invent our own plan of alerting the immigrants when Mr Yao is around. Here is my work:

Fluency

Reading fluently means that you: read at the right rate, reads with expression, reads accurately, notices punctuation and comprehends what they are reading.

My fluency goal is to read with more expression.

I will achieve this by reading books out loud, and change my voice for different characters.

Bookworms

  • In year 3 to 6 at my school we do something called book chat. Book chat is where we read a book chose by our library teacher  over three weeks and put in sticky notes to explain our thinking.
This is the front cover of my book chat book

The book l chose is Flora & Ulysses. It is about a squirrel that gets vacuumed upped and comes out with magical powe, then a girl called Flora who saved his life then become friends. They go adventures, your probably wondering what adventures they go on, well you have to read the book and see. I chose this book because I  LOVE adventure books and squirrels. I’m really excited to finish this book.
